Livia Fontana produces our benchmark Barbera since way back, the 2017 vintage is arguably Livia's best yet.
Grapes: 100% Barbera
Viticulture: Conventional (no pesticides / organic fertilisers only)
Vinification: Light crushing, fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperature with frequent pump over and délestages
Ageing: 30 months in large used oak barrels and then in the bottles in the wine cellar at controlled temperature

Nose: Fresh and intense nose evoking aromas of dark fruits and spices
Palate: The mouth is rich and full with blackberry, blackcurrant, violet and liquorice notes. Full-bodied, dry with well-integrated tannins
- The cantina was founded in 1820. Livia Fontana is the 8th generation of the family at the helm working with her sons Michele and Lorenzo following the same philosophy as her ancestors. No chemicals are used in the winemaking and traditional large barrels are employed for ageing.
